Indian fined for molesting hotel employee

An Indian businessman pleaded guilty in a district court for molesting a hotel employee at a Singapore hotel in Little India on Feb 6.

He was fined S$3,000 and jailed for a week by a district court for molesting a hotel employee on Thursday.

Udaya Kumar Purushottaman Chembottu, a 50-year-old Indian national, was said to have been a guest of the hotel.
However, the hotel wasn’t named to protect the identity of the victim.

According to reports, Chembottu had approached the 19-year-old hotel trainee and touched her shoulder, rubbed her neck, and then stroked and slapped her buttock.

He was jailed for a week and fined S$3,000. In addition, another charge of molestation was taken into account as Chembottu had earlier molested another hotel employee on the same day.

According to the other victim, aged 24, Chembottu approached her and proceeded to hug and kiss her while she tried avoiding him. Chembottu is married with a daughter.

Chembottu was arrested after both victims reported the matter to the police. He could be jailed for up to two years or caned or fined on each charge.
