Operations at the new integrated terminal at the IGI Airport would begin from July, with Air India and all international airlines shifting their operations from the existing terminal buildings.
The new terminal or Terminal 3 (T3) is said to be the sixth largest in the world in terms of its size of 5.4 million square feet. It would handle both domestic and international traffic. It has a capacity to handle 34 million passengers per annum.
The other large international airports include the ones at Beijing, Dubai, Hong Kong and Bangkok.
T3 will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on July 3, would have business centres, malls, a 100-room transit hotel and a number of shopping chain brands covering 20,000 square metres of retail space.
