What does your job entail on a daily basis?
Quite simply put, my job entails making the day more organised and productive for the general manager!
What is the best part of this job?
The best part of my job is to be able to interact with people at all levels. This job gives me an opportunity to understand people at all levels and across all departments.
It also gives me a great opportunity to develop myself in the hotel industry since I get to understand different aspects of the hotel on a daily basis.
What I also enjoy is being a close confidant and friend to many people in the hotel who feel comfortable to share their happy moments, challenges and issues with me, be it professional or personal.
What part of the job do you not like and how do you motivate yourself to do it?
Apart from the usual filing, I don’t like it when I have to follow up with department heads and then report to the general manager that a certain task has not been completed by them within a given timeframe.
The only way to motivate myself to do this task is to keep in mind that it is for the betterment of the hotel.
What is the funniest thing that has happened to you at work?
I played a prank on the general manager and department heads! I told them that there was some exotic Goan food being served in the cafeteria and they rushed to have it! The expressions on their faces when they realised that I had actually fooled all of them was priceless and unforgettable.
When was the last time you watched a movie in the theater? Which one was it?
The last movie that I watched in a theatre was How To Train Your Dragon! I have two small children and often our family outings and movie choices revolve around them. It was time well spent with my husband and children and although it was an animated movie, it had a strong social message in it, which is very relevant to real life.
Which is your favorite hotel in the world?
But of course The Goa Marriott Resort! If it wasn’t my favourite hotel, I would not have worked here for 10 years. It’s all about the people and the place.
What is your motto in life?
Balance work and family and do justice to both!
What would you be doing if you were not in the hotel industry?
I would spend more time with the family and contribute fully to my band by not only performing for live concerts and shows, but perhaps also composing music.
What is your dream destination and activity for a holiday?
If I did not live in Goa, it would be my favourite destination! However, since I already enjoy Goa, I would love to experience an international destination like Mauritius or Bali!
I can picture myself just relaxing by the sea with my family, without a care in the world, just enjoying the sea, greenery and taking in the natural beauty of the place.
