A number of new hotels have been announced by various players in India, adding to sentiment that next year will be a bounce-back year for the industry.
Choice Hotels India has recently launched two properties in Delhi NCR as part of its rapidly expanding portfolio: the 39-room Quality Inn Bliss in Gurgaon and the 82-key Quality Hotel Sewa Grand in Faridabad.
“We now have four properties in Delhi NCR. We are also coming up with 160 room property known as Clarion in Greater Noida to be operational by next year. In addition to this, CHI has also signed one more property under Sleep Inn brand in Delhi,” said Vilas Pawar, CEO, Choice Hotels India.
Sarovar Hotels & Resorts has also signed its third property in Kerala. The five-star Vasundhara Sarovar Premiere resort, slated for launch by 2010, will be spread over eight acres and will have 50 rooms.
In addition WelcomHeritage has launched the 37-room WelcomHeritage Panjim Inn in Panaji, composed of three different units all within reach of each other – Panjim Inn, the Panjim Pousada and the Panjim People’s.
Meanwhile in related news the Thai hotel chain Amari has announced plans to invest US$44million (Rs200 crore) in India by 2010 as part of its strategy to add 40 properties to its Asia Pacific portfolio by 2018.
