According to a study released yesterday by J.D. Power and Associates in their 2009 European Hotel Guest Satisfaction Index Study, overall guest satisfaction in Europe has achieved a five-year high in 2009.
The study was based on seven categories, that is, costs and fees; guest room; hotel facilities; food and beverage; check-in/check-out; hotel services; and reservations (in order of importance). 42 hotel brands were ranked in the segments of upper upscale, upscale, mid-scale full service, and economy. The most improvement has been shown by the upper upscale and upscale hotels, which increased by 24 and 25 points respectively, up from 2008.
Steigenberger Hotels and Resorts rank highest in the upper upscale segment for a second consecutive year, with Radisson BLU Hotels & Resorts, and Maritim Hotels, following. In the upscale sector,
Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts obtained the best ratings, followed by Crowne Plaza Hotels & Resorts, and Hotel Novotel. Among the mid-scale full service brands, Park Inn did particularly well, moving up from the 16th position in 2008 to rank the highest in this survey, followed by Dorint Hotels & Resorts, and Clarion. In the economy segment, Premier Inn ranks highest for the second consecutive year, followed by Travelodge.
The study was based on responses from more than 13,000 guests who stayed at European hotels between May 2009 and September 2009; the study itself was fielded between August 2009 and September 2009.
