The 13-year tenure of Man Mohan Singh, president of the Hotel and Restaurant Association of Chandigarh (HRAC) came to an abrupt end on October 30 with a general call for his resignation.
Singh, whose leadership was praised in his tenure’s early years, is accused by a majority of the 70 member association of turning autocratic at HRAC’s expense.
“Singh gradually lost his member’s trust as his autocratic ways took over and he ruled through a coterie of six members,” said an active HRAC member.
Matters were building up to a head which finally came last week, when Singh was unable to deliver on HRAC commitments in a major tourism programme organised by the Chandigarh Administration and the CII.
The HRAC will have a special meeting later today to elect Singh’s successor and a new executive committee. hotelierindia.com will bring you the news as it happens.
