Smita Rathod wins 'Housekeeper of the Year' award

The ‘Housekeeper of the Year’ award at the 11th Hotelier India Awards 2019 in upscale to mid market category went to Smita Rathod from Pullman & Novotel Aerocity. Here, is a short excerpt where we get to know a bit more about to Smita as she shares her thoughts on Hotelier India.

Everyone is aware that winning a Hotelier India award is akin to winning the Oscars of hospitality, I feel immensely proud to win this award; I feel appreciated for all the hard work I have put in.

Hotelier India awards is the most prestigious awards in the industry and every hotelier dreams of winning it because it boosts your prospects.

The key factors behind this win is the hard work that my team puts in the entire year, which has got me such good scores in all the audits and the initiatives that I have undertaken, which worked well. My seniors motivated me to experiment with my ideas and that has what got me to where I am today.

Housekeeping is not an easy department. One really needs to be focused and dedicated to do the job efficiently; it is a thankless job at times.

My winning mantra is to take pride in what I do and create my own niche. Housekeeping is a rather huge operation in the entire system of a hotel, and running that operation flawlessly is a challenge. Hence focus and give your best every day.

I am handling two hotels like a cluster housekeeper. In the next five years, I aspire to be in a corporate role for a chain soon.

The hospitality industry, specially hotels, isn’t just a career, but it is also a lifestyle. This is the most open-minded and sophisticated industry, with lots of growth and broad career prospects for people who are passionate.
