As a precautionary measure against novel Coronavirus, Qatar bans travellers of 14 countries including India from entering its region

The ban on these 14 countries will be effective from 9th March, 2020

As a precautionary measure against the rapid spreading of novel Coronavirus, the State of Qatar has announced temporary travel ban on 14 countries including India. Tourist arrivals from 14 countries  including  — Bangladesh, China, Egypt, India, Iran, Iraq, Lebanon, Nepal, Pakistan, Philippines, South Korea, Sri Lanka, Syria and Thailand will be suspended.

The travel ban will be effective from 9th March, 2020, the Qatar government announced in a statement. Besides, Qatar Airways had already suspended flights to and from Italy.

Qatar Airways has announced a new flexible policy

Taking into account the rapid spread of novel Coronavirus, Qatar Airways has announced a new flexible policy for travellers which will be valid till 30th June. As per the policy:

• The change fees will be waived for travel reservations through June 30
• The policy will be valid for existing/ already purchased tickets and not for new bookings
• The change in travel plans should be made three days prior to travel
• In case a passenger doesn’t have a travel plan/ date to rebook, then a travel voucher will be issued by airline which will be valid for one year (not limited to traveling within a year of original purchase date on the ticket).
